What’s in it for us?

  • Demonstrate a real-life application of the curriculum.
  • Offer opportunities for students to provide community service.
  • Offer job-shadowing, mentoring and apprentice programs.
  • Help prepare students with 21st century skills, and prepare the workforce of the future.
  • Provide services, products or expertise to schools and students at reduced or no cost.

Mary Beth Davis, Manor Elementary- 3/19/12

  • Awareness of the businesses willing to contribute their time and services to help support our   curriculum/enhance our instruction.
  • Opportunity to partner with multi-level teachers and to collaborate on educational/school-wide initiatives
  • Heightened awareness of grant opportunities available to educators
  • Opportunity to meet/network with business people and District personnel who are willing to provide assistance and support to accomplish our goals

Melody Jacko, Oxford Valley -3/19/12

  • You get to build relationships with businesses that are willing to come into our school to help our students learn. For example, Wells Fargo came into multiple classrooms and set up a “store” where our students were able to purchase and keep items using play money, teaching them about budgets, and journaling.
  • You get to learn how to use the Partnership Activity Knowledgebase where you can access a thousand partners to find the ones best suited for your class and/or school needs.
  • You get to swap great ideas with fellow teachers (other liaisons) at all levels in the District. I learned about a “soup”er Bowl food drive at one meeting.
  • Having more than one teacher liaison means sharing responsibilities. For example: reporting partnership and grant ideas to your faculty; help with representing your school at PPP meetings.
  • You get to attend and enjoy a Partner Banquet with a complimentary dinner and a chance to network with business partners and other faculty.
  • You get to attend and enjoy a PPP year-end event, “Strawberry Tea” to review your accomplishments with other liaisons.
  • You get to build on your ACT 48 hours that you receive for your attendance at various meetings.
