Adugna, Rahel
School Counselor

Hi, my name is Ms. Adugna and I am the School Counselor at Village Park Academy. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Philadelphia where I attended the University of Pennsylvania for my undergraduate career. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and eventually found myself back at the University of Pennsylvania for graduate school. I received a Master of Science in Education in Counseling and Mental Health Services and a Master of Philosophy in Education in Professional Counseling. During my undergraduate and graduate career, I worked within various programs throughout the Philadelphia community where I confirmed my desire and love for working with children. I love to travel during my spare time, play sports, and secretly love to binge-watch Netflix series.

Beliveau, Will
High School Math

Hello!  My name is Maureen Sacco.  I grew up in Bucks County and graduated from Archbishop Wood high school.  I attended Penn State on a scholarship for 1 semester, but decided I wanted to do things my way and moved out.  After working for a year at another alternative program, I knew I wanted to go back to school so I could work with at-risk youth full time.  I received my associates' degree in Liberal Arts from Bucks County Community College and my bachelor's in Education (middle and secondary math) from Temple University.  I also have 30 additional credits towards my Master's in Alternative Education mostly from Lock Haven University.

I have worked for Pennsbury's Alternative Program for the last 12 years teaching mathematics.  I have also worked in the regular ed program, summer school, TRACK (truancy reduction and curfew for kids) program, home bound tutoring, and specialized tutoring.

I am married and have 3 children, Taylor (16), Emma (6), and AJ (1).  When I am not working, I enjoy doing anything active... hiking, riding my bike, fishing, traveling, just to name a few things.  One thing I am proud of, besides my children, is competing in triathlons.  I hope to get back to competing after taking a break after my son was born.

I look forward to the opportunity to be part of the new Academy at Village Park program.  I will bring my years of service and experience to work with both previous coworkers and new staff additions to help create the best program possible to help our students succeed to the best of their abilities.

Elementary School Teacher

Hello!  My name is Jenna Flynn. I was born and raised in Montgomery County and graduated from Upper Dublin High School. My college career began at Penn State University with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I loved cheering on the Penn State football team every weekend and decided to start my career in the State College Area School District. I taught 2nd and 4th grades there for 3 years while going to school for my Masters in Education from Wilkes University. I moved back to the area after 3 years and began working in Colonial School District where I taught K-3rd grades for 5 years. After taking a few years to stay at home with my daughter, I spent the last school year working in the Pennsbury School District as the Elementary Student Assistance Specialist. I traveled to all ten of the elementary schools in the district and worked with small groups of students on resiliency and stress management skills. I also served on each school’s SAP team.

I now live in Bucks County with my husband, yellow lab named Bailey and almost 3 year old daughter named Abby. One of my passions is teaching, but I love making memories with my family and friends when I am not working. I enjoy traveling, cooking with my daughter, visiting any seasonal festivals on the weekends (I love anything in the fall), trying new foods, running and doing anything creative!

I love working as a team, coming up with new technology projects and getting to know new students. I am so excited to be here at Village Park Academy and can’t wait to share my love of teaching and learning!

Martin, Matt
High School English Teacher

Hello Village Park Academy Families.  My name is Matt Martin. I will be teaching your High School students English this year. I grew up in Bucks County and graduated from Council Rock South. I attended Penn State University and graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and English Education with a minor in History. I am currently taking classes at St. Joseph’s University to pursue my Master’s in Special Education.

This is my first year at Pennsbury and I am ecstatic to be here and work with this dynamic and diverse community. I have spent the past five years teaching in North East Philadelphia at New Foundations Charter High School. While at New Foundations I taught both English and Social Studies classes. I also had the great pleasure to teach AP World History, Criminal Justice, and the History of Philadelphia. I was the advisor to Student Council, Yearbook, Rock Band, and Culinary Club as well as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.

When not teaching, I enjoy spending my summers going down the shore with my family. I am an avid movie-goer and die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. I also love the Sixers, Phillies and Flyers. I am looking forward to be part of the new Village Park Academy program.  I will bring my enthusiasm and passion for teaching along with my years of service and experience to work with my new coworkers to help create the best program possible to help our students succeed to the best of their abilities.

Selgas, Tim
High School Science Teacher

Hello. My name is Tim Selgas. I grew up in the Harrisburg PA area and attended Central Dauphin High School.  I completed my Biology degree at the University of Mary Washington College. Later in my life, I attended Shippensburg University to complete my Teacher certificate.  I received my Master's Degree in Education from Cabrini College after 5 years of teaching. Graduation day was very special because my son was old enough to see it.  He told me he wanted to graduate too.

I started my teaching career working in the Philadelphia School District for 6 years. I worked in multiple schools with multiple demographics.  After 6 years I got the amazing opportunity to teach in the Alternative Program in the Pennsbury School District.  In the past 3 years, I have split my time between the regular education 9th-grade Physical Science classroom and the all science teacher in the Alternative program. I have also served on the Student Assistance Program (SAP) and the Principal Advisory Committee (PAC).

I am married and have two children. When I am not teaching I enjoy swimming and playing soccer with my kids.  I have also done karate for the past 1 1/2 years.  I was recently promoted to 1st-degree brown belt.  Additionally, I enjoy traveling with my wife and kids. One thing I have done, and continue to do, is that I participate in Tough Mudder obstacle races.

I am very excited about this school year. The Village Park Academy will provide an excellent learning environment for our great students.

Seyferhelt, Jack
High School Social Studies Teacher

I graduated from Temple University in the 1980"s. I immediately became  a substitute teacher as well as a home bound tutor for Pennsbury. In 1993 I was married and had 2 daughters I decided to leave substitute teaching and dedicated my time to growing my landscape and lawn company, which I had started when I was in college. I continued doing home bound tutoring for Pennsbury.

In 2001 Pennsbury asked me if I would like to join a new alternative program called Twilight. I was the first teacher they hired for the program. I saw the program go through many changes over the years, but I always felt we were a successful place for many of the students.

I am looking for to working at the new program, Village Park Academy. I hope my experience with students that need a different way of being taught will be a benefit to the new program.
