School Day

The school day begins at 8:10 am and ends at 2:55 pm. Students who walk to school or are dropped off should not arrive before 7:45 am.
Please be sure to keep your emergency contact information up-to-date at all times. You may review the data we have on file for your family by contacting our main office. Should there be a need to update any of the demographic or student information you see posted there, please contact the main office to obtain a form to make changes in the Student Information System.

Building Access

For security purposes, all doors to the building will be locked at 8:20 am and remain locked all day. Access will only be permitted via the front door.  For our students’ protection, all visitors (parents, guardians, etc.)  MUST  check in at the main office upon entering the building.

Homework Assignment

HOMEWORK assignments for students anticipating an absence of one to three days can be obtained from the Pennwood website under  Homework Hotline .  If the absence will be three days or longer, please contact Mrs. Lynes Ext.: 40853. It will take 24 hours from the time of your call to honor the request.

Early Dismissal

Medical or dental appointments should not be scheduled during school hours.  Students who must unavoidably seek early dismissal from school for medical or dental appointments are required to bring a note from home, take it to the main office for a class absence card and must obtain signatures from those teachers whose classes will be missed.   Even then, a parent or guardian must sign the student out from the main office and show valid photo ID.  Upon returning to school, the student may be required to bring a form from the doctor’s office confirming the appointment.

Visitor Policy

The visitor policy of the Pennsbury School District states that students are to refrain from bringing visitors to accompany them during the school day.   We cannot honor requests by students to bring friends or relatives to school.   Thank you for your cooperation.

Students are required to attend school  on a regular basis and be on time. Students must be present in homeroom by 8:10 each day.  Regular school attendance is a key factor in student success.  Tardiness will affect perfect attendance.  Excuse cards must be in within three days after an absence.   For our students’ protection, all visitors (parents, guardians, etc.)  MUST  check in at the main office and obtain a visitor’s badge upon entering the building.

Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices

It is imperative that cellphones and other electronic devices be turned off during the school day, and that they are never visible at school. They are remarkably distracting and can be difficult to manage, especially when unexpected calls or messages are received. In addition, students and parents need to understand that taking and distributing photographs and private, sometimes inappropriate communication, can lead to a multitude of issues. Once shared, this media is not able to be deleted. When these issues are taken into schools, they can provide disruptions and problems for students and teachers. It is recommended that cell phones and electronic devices be limited to emergency use only.  After the first warning of a cell phone violation, parents will be notified and asked to pick up the device. Repeated offenses of the cell phone policy will lead to further disciplinary action, including detentions and possible suspension. Please review this information with your children and help them understand the potential negative impact of electronic media.

E-Reader  - Pennsbury students are now permitted to use e-readers during the school day, when appropriate, with teacher permission. E-Readers are defined as devices that are primarily designed for reading books. Examples of e-readers include Kindles and Nooks. Tablet personal computers and laptops are not e-readers and cannot be brought to school. Any students who would like to bring an e-reader to school must submit a parent permission form available on our website or in the main office at school. Students who secure permission for these devices will be issued a removable sticker to display on the device. Devices not registered through this procedure will be confiscated and will be required to be picked up by parents in our main office. Repeat offenders will be subject to discipline.

Student Dress Code

Appropriate dress and appearance is expected for all students.

The follow list highlights areas of concern:

  • No low cut shirts that expose any part of the midriff.
  • No excessively tight clothing.
  • All tops must have a two inch strap minimum with no undergarments showing at all.
  • No garments with holes or frays.
  • Shorts and skirts must not include lettering on the backside and must not be rolled up, and must be no shorter than mid-thigh length.
  • Backless shoes of any type, including sneakers are not allowed in school.

Students who violate the dress code will be removed from class and may be asked to make parental contact in order to obtain attire more appropriate for school if they are unable to utilize clothing already at school. Repeat offenders of the dress code policy will be subjected to progressive student discipline.

Late Buses

A late bus schedule is available for athletic and special activities.  Late buses are as follows:

Tuesday & Thursday    -   4:00 pm
Monday  -  Friday   -         5:00 pm

To maintain safety and order on our bus dock at 4:00 and 5:00 pm pickup times, please park your car in a designated parking space, and wait for your student to come to the car.  We are attempting to prevent a potentially hazardous situation.
