Kindergarten is a full-day program based on the developmental needs of children 5-6 years of age. It is based on the philosophy that children learn best when they are active and involved, and the learning is interesting and meaningful. The program promotes children to become better listeners, cooperative workers and responsible learners. The physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of each child is considered.

A typical day in Kindergarten consists of community circle time or Morning Meeting, Language Arts (incorporating science and social studies themes), snack, Math, Choice Time and recess. In addition, the children participate in art, physical education, music and library as part of the curriculum. We also plan 2 classroom extensions when possible each year. This usually consists of a trip to a nature center in the fall and the Philadelphia Zoo in the spring. We also have many Kindergarten "Celebrations" throughout the year, to include "Clifford's Birthday", "The 100th Day of Kindergarten", "King-Queen Day", and "Native American Day", etc. It is a wonderful year for children to grow and BLOOM in the school community.
