STUDENT BELONGINGS PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF June 9th - 12th

Dear Makefied Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy.    As noted by the Superintendent of Schools, the last instructional day for students will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020.  This will allow for our schools to close out year-end tasks including: student item pick-up/drop-off, completion of missing assignments, and the ability to generate final grades for the school year.

To that end, we are planning for an organized assembly of student pick-up/drop-off during the week of June 8, 2020 (i.e. library books, chromebooks/chargers, safety belts, return of student materials and distribution of awards/certificates, *Yearbooks -see below., etc.)   Please review the schedule below to plan for the appropriate date/time of your arrival.  We will have staff on hand to assist in orchestrating a safe and efficient pick-up/drop-off process.

Make Up Day

**If you are only able to pickup in the evening please respond here.

Any parent/guardian intending to come to Makefield on a pick-up/drop-off day should follow the guidelines outlined below:

  • Enter the back parking lot,  pulling up to the sign/staff near the back door/overhang.

  • Please drive up in a vehicle to the school; we are requesting NO WALKER pick-ups to minimize physical contact;

  • Place a visible sign in your front window listing your childs(ren) names

  • Open your trunk (or your back passengers' side car door if the trunk is unavailable) so any collected items can be placed in your car.  Please place any returning items (i.e. library books, chromebooks/chargers, bus safety belts, etc.) in your trunk so our staff can obtain them safely.

*Yearbooks will be distributed to families if they arrive in time for this pick-up/drop-off process.  If yearbooks do not arrive by our start date, we will make other arrangements for distribution.

Be Well, Stay Safe and Stay Healthy,

Mrs. M & M

SALUTE TO THE ARTS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION DAY FRIDAY, MAY 22ND

Hello Elementary Families,

It is hard to believe that we are heading into the Memorial Day weekend.  Memorial Day commemorates those who died in military service to our country.  We are grateful for the ultimate sacrifice they made for our country.

Memorial Day is also the unofficial start to summer.  While this upcoming weekend will be very different for us as we continue to “stay at home”, it doesn't mean that we can’t have some fun with our families.  As an elementary division, we are proud to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with our own Salute to the Arts and Physical Education.   We know our students love Art, Music, Library, SPARK, and PE, but that it has been tough at times to get to those special area lessons.  We also know that April and May is when we typically have our Spring Concerts, Art and Literacy Nights, STEM Fairs, and Field Days.  We wanted a way to celebrate those missed experiences in a virtual way!

On Friday, May 22nd, our students will have an opportunity to start the holiday weekend with very special activities created by our amazing special area teachers providing fun and movement for the whole family.  Classroom teachers will not be assigning lessons on Friday, so you can dedicate a whole day to the Special Areas classes..  Activities will be posted in several places including the district COVID-19 Parent Resource page for the Elementary Division, on your home school website, as well as your individual schools’ special area classrooms.   You can also Click here for the Salute to the Arts Google Slide.  These activities are fun, engaging and easy to do with the whole family.  These activities will be available for the remainder of the school year.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend and enjoy our Salute to the Arts and Physical Education!

Sincerely,

Michele A. Spack

Director of Elementary Education

CHROMEBOOK SWAPPING STATION
The Pennsbury School District has set up a “Swapping Station” to accommodate Pennsbury issued Chromebooks that are not functioning or a Charger that is not charging your Chromebook. The next swapping day is scheduled forWednesday, June 3rd.

Please click here to view more information about the location and time that the Swapping Station will be open, directions to complete the process, and to complete a Google Form when you are in need of this service.

In order to have your Chromebook or Charger swapped for a new one, you must complete the Form on that webpage and you’ll receive a confirmation email back from a member of the Technology Department. We will not be able to accomodate people who are not pre-approved. Our plan is to offer this service twice a week moving forward throughout our closure, so if you miss the opportunity for one day, another one will be available shortly.

Additionally, if you’re having issues accessing accounts, please click here to go to the Tech Help Page to view tips and resources we have created.
