What is a Comprehensive Plan?
Every three years, as directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsbury School District develops a comprehensive plan to guide the district’s future direction and decision-making. This ongoing process ensures that:
- All students are achieving at high levels
- Student performance continues to improve
- Schools and the district effectively plan for and lead innovative school improvement practices
- The district establishes cohesive long-term goals and action plans, monitors annual progress, and maintains transparency in communication
- Resources and professional development efforts remain focused and aligned
- Public participation is meaningfully incorporated
Committee Objectives and Process
A committee comprised of Pennsbury staff, parents, students, administrators, a Board member, and a community representative was convened to guide the development of the comprehensive plan. The committee reviewed demographic data, assessed district performance using the Pennsylvania Essential Practices for District Framework, analyzed the recent climate survey results, and utilized the Future Ready PA Index to identify strengths and areas for growth.
In addition, the group gathered feedback on current programs and initiatives and developed a three-year plan designed to advance the district’s priorities, with a continued emphasis on clear communication and engagement with the Pennsbury community.
