Good Morning Elementary Families,

It is hard to believe that we are heading into the Memorial Day weekend.  Memorial Day commemorates those who died in military service to our country.  We are grateful for the ultimate sacrifice they made for our country.

Memorial Day is also the unofficial start to summer.  While this upcoming weekend will be very different for us as we continue to “stay at home”, it doesn't mean that we can’t have some fun with our families.  As an elementary division we are proud to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with our own Salute to the Arts and Physical Education.   We know our students love Art, Music, Library, SPARK, and PE, but  that it has been tough at times to get to those special area lessons.  We also know that April and May is when we typically have our Spring Concerts, Art and Literacy Nights, STEM Fairs, and Field Days.  We wanted a way to celebrate those missed experiences in a virtual way!

On Friday, May 22nd, our students will have an opportunity to start the holiday weekend with very special activities created by our amazing special area teachers providing fun and movement for the whole family.  Classroom teachers will not be assigning lessons on Friday, so you can dedicate a whole day to the Special Areas classes..  Activities will be posted in several places including the district COVID-19 Parent Resource page for the Elementary Division, on your home school website, as well as your individual schools’ special area classrooms.   You can also Click here for the Salute to the Arts Google Slide.  These activities are fun, engaging and easy to do with the whole family.  These activities will be available for the remainder of the school year.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend and enjoy our Salute to the Arts and Physical Education!
