    Overview

There are 6 essential parts to the 2024 Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation application. Each item is REQUIRED.

    1. Completed Application Form
    2. Processed FAFSA Submission Summary showing the Student Aid Index (SAI)  www.FAFSA.ed.gov
    3. Financial Aid Award Letter from College
    4. Official Transcript (sent directly to the PSF from the PHS Guidance Office or educational institution)
    5. Character Essay
      • The Selection Committee wants to get to know you on a personal level and gain insight into your character. In an essay of 600 words or less, single spaced on a single 8.5 x 11 page, identify one to three of your most positive character traits (example: courteous, responsible, independent). Describe how these character traits were developed or reinforced in your life. Explain how these traits improve your interactions with others. Be specific and give examples. If you are a previous applicant, we require you to update your essays.
      • The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation does not disqualify students who use generative AI bots to complete their essays. Students should be warned essays created using generative AI bots are not considered original work, will not give the Foundation insights into who you are as a person, and will generally result in lower essay scores.
      • This essay is scored anonymously using a coded number. INCLUDE YOUR NAME IN THE PDF FILE NAME, BUT DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME OR ANY OTHER PERSONALLY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION ON YOUR ESSAY.
    6. Leadership Essay
      • The Selection Committee is interested in learning about your leadership qualities. In an essay of 600 words or less, single spaced on a single 8.5 x 11 page, identify one to three of your most positive leadership skills (example: communication, organization, delegation, family responsibilities). Describe activities in which you have undertaken specific positions of leadership. Explain how these skills have influenced or changed the outcome of a situation. Be specific and give examples. You may also include a list of activities that demonstrate your leadership qualities on a second page.
