School Closing and Delay Information

  • EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

It is the policy of the Pennsbury School District to operate every day that children can be transported safely. The decision to close schools, delay their opening, or dismiss students early due to inclement weather is made after the District Superintendent consults with a number of internal and external contacts. Factors that enter into the final decision include the conditions of roads, sidewalks, buildings, and parking lots, as well as forecasted weather conditions. The decision to close schools or open on a delayed basis is made typically by 5:00 a.m. in order to generate timely announcements. The fastest way to learn about emergency school closure is to check the District website, www.pennsburysd.org. Outlined below are the multiple ways this information will be posted and communicated to Pennsbury families and staff:

    EARLY DISMISSALS

On some occasions, it may be necessary to dismiss students early from school due to developing weather conditions or emergency circumstances. Therefore, it is critical for parents and guardians to plan ahead for the potential need for child care. Please discuss appropriate after-school arrangements with your children, so they know what to do.
