  • The Nutrition Group receives many questions from students, parents, and guardians about the food service program at the Pennsbury School District. Below you will find answers to our most commonly asked questions. Please email Ashley Dowd with additional questions or comments. To reach the Food Services Office, please call 215-428-4100, ext. 22201.

Q: How do I apply for free or reduced meals?

A: Please visit School Cafe and create an account. If you have an existing account, please log in. Follow the instructions to fill out a free and reduced meal application. This application will need to be completed each school year.

Q: How do I add money to my School Café account?

A: A student can bring cash or a personal check directly to our cafeteria staff. You can also add money by logging into your School Cafe account and using the credit card feature.

Q: Who do I make cafeteria check payments to?

A: Personal checks should be made payable to “Pennsbury School District”

Q: Is my student allowed to hand deliver a check for their cafeteria account?

A: Yes. Students can bring their personal check to the cafeteria cashier during breakfast or lunch service. Be sure to include your student’s name and ID number on the check. Please place the check in an envelope with your student’s full name and ID number listed on the front.

Q: How do I add a restriction to my student’s cafeteria account?

A: You can add a la carte snack restrictions to your student’s account by logging into their School Cafe account. You can adjust the restrictions as needed. For example, you can restrict your student from charging snacks on their account but can allow them to use cash instead.

Q: How can I assure my student does not consume a food product they are allergic to?

A: Allergies and dietary restrictions should be sent to the school nurse. The school nurse sends that information to The Nutrition Group. It is then noted in the student’s lunch account. When the student buys a meal and enters their student account number, our point of sale system alerts us of any allergies. We then check the student’s tray to be sure they do not have the allergen or specific restricted food on their tray.

Q: My student has very strict food restrictions that were given by a medical doctor. Can you provide a meal specifically for my child’s needs?

A: Yes. If your student cannot consume foods that we typically serve to our students, then you can have your student’s doctor fill out a medical form that we will provide to you. Once the medical form is complete, it will allow us to serve your student very specific food items.

Q: What are the snack guidelines for the district?
