Benefits Open Enrollment
  • The Open Enrollment period will open and run from May 1, 2024 through May 12, 2024. 

    Open Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to review your benefits and make selections that will work best for you and your family.

    Elections made during Open Enrollment are effective for the school year - July 1st - June 30th.

    We will be utilizing PowerSchool Employee Records to complete our Open Enrollment Process. 

    This year, you will be able to confirm your current elections, decide if you wish to leave everything the same, or make a change.  This will create an electronic document in your Employee Records portal that you can access/view at any time.

    What is open enrollment?

    During Open Enrollment you may:

    • Enroll in the various benefit program offerings
    • Add or remove dependents - spouse and/or child(ren)
    • Make changes to your current benefit elections
      • Add, change, or cancel coverage
      • Switch plans
    • Elect to participate in Flexible Spending Account (FSAs) Health Care and/or Dependent Care (you must re-enroll each year)
    • Elect to enroll in Long Term Disability Insurance coverage through UNUM

     

    What will I be required to do during Open Enrollment?

    All benefit eligible staff will be sent two forms to complete through PowerSchool Records.  On the first form, the Benefit Election Form, you will designate if you would like to keep all benefit elections the same as you have currently or if you wish to make a change.  The second form to complete will be the Flexible Spending Enrollment/Waiver form.

     

    What happens if I wish to make a change to my health insurance election(s)?

    Once you indicate your wish to make a change on the Benefit Election Form, we will assign you the necessary benefit enrollment form for you to complete.  This form will allow you to change your health benefit election(s) or to add/remove any dependents.

     

    Where can I see my current health insurance election(s)?

    You can view your current election(s) in PowerSchool Records, select the Files tab, and then look in the Benefit Enrollment folder.  You will see the form you completed last year.  You can also look in the Employee Access Center under Deductions and Benefits.

     

    What has changed?

    Other than the rate changes, there are a few other differences to note: 

     

    • The first difference for all benefit eligible employees is that there will no longer be an option to choose the Prescription/RX plan without choosing a medical plan.  If you currently only have the Prescription/RX plan with no Medical selection, you will either need to choose a Medical plan or choose to waive both Medical and Prescription/RX plans. 
    • Because you now will choose a combined Medical/Prescription/RX plan, the rates listed include both plans.
    • The Prescription/RX plan options are a little different.  The PPO 20/40 and the QPOS (HMO) plan both have the RX 15/40/70/75 plan.  The PPO 10/20 option will have the RX 15/30/50 plan.
    • For Certified (PEA) and Administrative/First Level Supervisors, the PPO 20 option is no longer available.  If you currently have this option, you will need to make a new health insurance election this year.

    PPO 20/40 with RX 15/40/70/75

    I don't have access to a device to complete Open Enrollment. What can I do?

    We have set up an Open Enrollment Open House for staff to stop in and use a District device to complete the Open Enrollment process. 

    Stop in the Administration Building in Fallsington anytime on the following dates and times listed below:

    Wednesday, May 1st - 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.  

    Friday, May 3rd - 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.  

    Thursday, May 9th - 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.

    What are my options for Medical, RX, and Dental?

    If I waive my Medical/Prescription RX coverage is there anything else I need to do?

    Yes, once you have confirmed that you wish to waive your Medical/Prescription RX coverage, you will be assigned the Benefit form through Power School Records. This form must be completed annually in order to receive the stipend.

     

    What is the Cafeteria Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?

    Pennsbury offers a way to save for out-of-pocket medical, prescription, dental, vision and daycare expenses on a pre-tax basis through a Section 125 Flexible Spending account.
     
    Enrollment for an FSA is done once a year during the Open Enrollment Period. This program runs from July 1st through June 30th each year, with an extension allowing employees to continue to submit any claim with a date of service within that school year until September 15th.   Flexible Spending Deductions will only be taken out of 21 pay periods even if you receive your pay on a 26 pay basis.
     
    The Internal Revenue Code requires you to complete the Flexible Spending Election each year during Open Enrollment even if you are not changing your elections from the previous year.
     
    You will receive an Optimed card that can be used for eligible expenses.  You also have the option to complete a claim form for reimbursement.  The claim form can be found here on the Human Resources/Benefits webpage.
